Deputy Brian Litz was shot and killed while making a routine well-being check on an 
elderly man while on duty in Florida. Brian originated from Agawam, MA where his family and many friends still reside.
The Brian Litz Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in memory of Brian back in 2006 by Tim Lockwood. Brian was a former Agawam High School Varsity basketball player and Captain his senior year. Each year we give a scholarship out in his name to a Senior basketball player that the team votes on that deserves the Award. This player will represent the qualities that Brian Litz had when he played – Being a great teammate, having a positive attitude, and always giving 100% effort.
Each year we hold an Alumni Game to benefit the Scholarship Fund. Since it’s inception the Brian Litz Fund has awarded over $40,000 in Scholarships to both the Boys and Girls Basketball Team scholarship winners – Thanks to your continued support we will continue to award more Scholarships in the future.
